My client represents segments of the energy and utility UK and Ireland market. They are responsible for maintain the critical infrastructure that delivers services to homes and businesses and acts as a focused channel of communication for the industry.

Job Purpose
My client is seeking a highly motivated person to join their operations team providing support for member companies. This is a fantastic opportunity to support leading figures within the company such as the director of operations and the Head of engineering. The successful candidate will facilitate working groups to manage and develop protection, power, earthing and tele-communications policy for the UK and Ireland electricity networks.
This is an important role where you will be a link between companies and the technical standards of the industry. You will have the ability to work closely with senior industry members, technical specialists, government departments and related bodies.

*Work with government and associated security service organisations to ensure telecommunications security against physical and cyber-attack.
*Interact with vendors and the supply industry to support the energy sector's requirements.
*Representation of the company, their members and UK energy industry telecommunications and data interests into appropriate UK and EU government advisory committees, groups, conferences, seminars, workshops and tutorials.
*Co-ordinate consultation responses on behalf of the company and their members including providing secretariat functions and facilitating committees relating to utility telecoms and data.
*Provide understanding and guidance in the development of system communications and supporting documents and guidance.
*Assist members to develop system integration of protection, control, and monitoring systems, policies and standards (SCADA).
*To support the Earthing Coordination Group (ECG) and other industry stakeholders by facilitating ECG projects, managing engineering and technical aspects of their legal and licence obligations in the area of power system earthing.
*To support the Power Quality (PQ) and Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) workgroup in its aim of actively assisting Member Companies in managing the engineering and technical aspects of their legal and licence obligations in the areas of PQ and EMC.
*Identify developments in the areas of PQ and EMC that could potentially impact on Member Companies;
*Report and provide assistance to the PQ and EMC workgroup as required in the areas of PQ and EMC.

Person Specification

Essential criteria:
*Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or other relevant Engineering degree with transferable skills.
*Network industry experience with the UK Electricity Transmission or Distribution market.
*Experience of protection and earthen systems
*Experience of system communications and communications resilience including an understanding of cyber-security and its application to energy networks.
*Strong organisational skills and takes responsibility for delivering expected outcomes on time and to standard
*Effective communicator, both orally and in writing
*Ability to draft papers, reports and industry responses.

Desirable criteria:
*Knowledge of UK Industry Specification, Standards and Procurement processes
*Knowledge of Electricity Transmission and Distribution network design, protection and control
*Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Office User
*ISO9001 Qualification
