An experienced Engineering Manager required Urgently for a leading Manufacturer in Leicester, The role is accountable for achieving high standards of Asset Care for both the equipment on site and the site infrastructure and also key to leading the Capital Plans for the site. You will take on full operational accountability for the Engineering team including Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.

We are looking for candidates who are hands on and can work with a varied team of both character and skill level from Apprentice to senior engineer. You will have a strong history of developing staff, skills and getting on the tools to show them how its done when required. A Good knowledge of all relevant codes of practice Engineering policies and procedures with a solid background of Continuous improvement tools and techniques e.g. Value Stream Mapping, 5s, Kan Ban, SMED.

Role Accountability's:

  • Create and champion the Site Asset Care plan, supporting the Site Strategic goals.
  • Promotion of safe working practices and leadership ensuring adherence to all items associated to health and safety;
  • Developing strong clear leadership and vision within Engineering, evolving an efficient and operationally excellent environment which promotes continuous improvement, empowerment, motivation, participation and team working that allows employees to develop to their maximum potential;
  • Leading and playing an active part in driving lean/continuous improvement activities and introduce leading edge engineering tools and techniques;
  • Ensure a preventative maintenance system is in place and within budget to provide machine reliability;
  • Play a key role in the development of a pro-active, profit, results focused environment;
  • Advise production management on engineering requirements and capital investments;
  • Manage selected projects towards a successful conclusion;
  • Providing a robust and controlled engineering facility in line with business objectives and targets;
  • Ensure engineering knowledge of the department is of the highest standard;
  • Provide an engineering function that performs to a level of excellence within the business;
  • Ensure that daily, weekly, monthly and annual targets are achieved.

Ideally you will be:

  • An analytical thinker with a structured approach;
  • Persuasive and improvements focused and results driven;
  • Concerned about standards and thrive off challenges and accountability;
  • Have a Strong background in a fast paced manufacturing environment;
  • Have the ability to make decisions in a time pressured environment with a proven track record of performing at a high level in a fast paced customer focused environment;
  • Experience of leading a team/people management;
